🔍 When is it ripe?
Hangs heavily and droops at the neck; skin softens and may split. A sweet drop of nectar at the base eye and the absence of white sap at the stem confirm ripeness. Pick with a gentle twist.
Large brownish figs, very good when ripe, but harvest window varies from year to year, usually starting mid to late July. May need to check in several times to get them when they're perfect. On private property, but on the street side of the fence, and the owner is happy for people to help themselves to as much as they want.
