🔍 When is it ripe?
Blue-black berries in flat clusters; cook before eating. Ripe when uniformly dark blue-black and heavy. Also note: elderflowers in June are edible raw and excellent for cordial.
In the right of way along the roadside. Begin to ripen in July and peak mid July. Wear long pants because of poison oak. County mows about harvest time.
