🌳
Black mustard · Sage
🗓 Season: May · June · July · August
🔍 When is it ripe?
Harvest young, grey-green leaves before or during flowering for best flavour. Woody older leaves are less aromatic. Dry well for year-round use. Flowers are edible as a garnish.
Walking along trails you'll find tons of incredible sage plants with huge gorgeous purple flower pods. Go further back for fields full of black mustard in springtime after heavy rain seasons. You can collect the seeds and make your own mustard condiment.
