Autumn-olive

📍 1810 Liberty Dr, Mt Pleasant, MI 48858, USA
Autumn-olive Private but overhanging
🗓 Season: September · October
🔍 When is it ripe?
Small, silvery-speckled red berries in clusters. Ripe when deep red and slightly soft; tart-sweet flavour. Very high in lycopene. Good for jam; note this is an invasive species in North America.
Undeveloped plot of marshland just south of Arboretum Apartments. Technically owned by the same developer as the apartment complex and therefore private land; however, no one will care if you wander the marsh and pick a bunch of invasive berries. DO be sure you are confident in your identification. There are other red berries in the area that are not safe to eat.
