Beach plum

πŸ“ Sandy Hook National Park
Beach plum Public
Park at the furthest parking lot at the end of Sandy Hook peninsula, by the old gun batteries. Follow the sand/dirt road into the dunes, heading north. There are wild beach plum bushes scattered all over the area. Watch out for poison ivy, there's a lot of it. I recommend long pants and sleeves regardless of the heat, also because of possible ticks or mosquitos. The yield varies, some years have a bumper crop, some years are poor. Depending on the weather, they ripen between the last week of August to the 2nd week of September. Check the National Park Service website for when admission is free, or you may have to pay the beach access fee to get into the park.
