🍎
Pomegranate
📍 4512 Sandburg Way, Irvine, CA 92612, USA
🗓 Season: September · October · November
🔍 When is it ripe?
Skin turns from pale orange to deep red; fruit becomes angular and the blossom end flattens slightly as arils expand. Tap the skin — a ripe pomegranate sounds metallic. Heavy for its size. A slight crack at the shoulder is fine. Do not wait for it to fall.
There are a bunch of pomegranate trees planted here. A few down Sandburg Way but more in the walkway between the parking lot and the playground area. There's also some natal plums. Fruit mature 5-7 months after bloom and blooming season is March-May so the fruit should be up August-December
City has advised against eating these due to spraying.
