🔍 When is it ripe?
Round, strawberry-textured red or orange fruit. Flowers and last year's fruit ripen simultaneously. Ripe when deep red and very soft; gritty texture and mild sweet flavour. Good for jam and brandy. Overripe fruit ferments on the tree — slightly intoxicating.
Strawberry trees all along Mesa Dr around this location (and some of the smaller streets nearby). Fruits are definitely ripe in July, not sure how long the season lasts .. a few years ago I harvested a bucketful of fruit and made jam.
