🔍 When is it ripe?
Must be bletted before eating. Pick after the first hard frost; store in a single layer in a cool room for 2–4 weeks until flesh is dark brown and very soft. Sweet, wine-like flavour.
The street to the south of the Cemetery in 8th Street and 32nd Avenue has trees full of Medlar (Called Nispero in Spanish). They are in a median and are free to pick.
