🫐
Black mulberry
📍 5200 E Colonial Dr, Orlando, FL 32807, USA
🗓 Season: June · July · August
🔍 When is it ripe?
Deep purple-black when ripe; intensely flavoured and juicy. Spread a tarp and shake the tree — ripe fruits fall immediately. Stains everything permanently — wear old clothes. Do not pick unripe red berries (mildly hallucinogenic).
If you go to the SE corner of the Rooms To Go parking lot (rearside of building) there is a convenient little pathway through the bushes (visible from satellite map) that will lead you straight to the mulberry. It is HUGE. You'll need a latter to pick them all. Directly north on the edge of the lake is a sprawling patch of bananas. I have not seen them fruiting but I wouldn't be surprised if they set racks. On the other side of the fence, there is a skinny little loquat if you look hard enough. Don't know if it produces. But the mulberries!!
I would imagine this is private property, but I don't think anyone will bother you. No houses, etc.
