🔍 When is it ripe?
Mulberry: Ripe when fully coloured (white, red, or black by species) and falls at a touch. Spread a sheet and shake the branches. Extremely perishable — process or eat immediately.
Passionfruit: Purple varieties: skin wrinkles and turns deep purple. Yellow varieties: fully yellow and slightly heavy. Both are ripe when they fall freely. Wrinkled skin indicates riper, more aromatic flesh — not deterioration.
PawPaws, Sandpaper figs, Wombat berry, Winter apple, Wild raspberries all year round, especially after rain. Lots of wild foods out there. Search the gullies near the boat ramp and on the low side of the dam wall. Cross the wall and search the lower side along the waterline for cress, wombat berries, raspberries and cherry tomatoes. Be very careful. It is steep and lots of loose rubble that can slide out from under your feet. Observe the signs. Don't break the rules or your neck.
