🔍 When is it ripe?
Small apples ripen from green to red, yellow, or orange by variety. Very tart raw but excellent for jelly and cider. Ripe when the colour is fully developed and the fruit lifts off with a gentle twist.
This area is known for crabapples (crabapple lane). It is a row of these trees on the sidewalk next to the cemetery. They taste bitter but could be a nice jam.
