🔍 When is it ripe?
Deep purple-black when ripe; intensely flavoured and juicy. Spread a tarp and shake the tree — ripe fruits fall immediately. Stains everything permanently — wear old clothes. Do not pick unripe red berries (mildly hallucinogenic).
Lovely, old mulberry tree in the Eastern section of the Park near small out building and gazebo. Coming to ripeness this time of year, ready for picking now. Leaves can be used year round in tea as an aid for diabetics by inhibiting the digestion of sugars.
