🔍 When is it ripe?
Common barberry: Red, elongated berries in hanging clusters. Tart and seedy; good for jam or wine. Ripe when fully red and slightly soft. Thorny — wear gloves.
Orange (Citrus): Fully orange and heavy for its size. Skin yields slightly when squeezed. Fruit will hang on the tree well past colour development without falling — taste-test for sweetness.
Owings Mills has several open areas of land. This area has many high / elementary and there are a few low income apartment areas that have greater access to fast food rather than fresh fruits.
