🔍 When is it ripe?
Apple: Background colour changes from green to yellow or cream (variety determines final colour). Seeds inside should be brown. Flesh yields slightly to thumb pressure. A ripe apple releases with a gentle upward twist — no pulling. Check the ground for natural drops.
European pear (Pyrus communis 'Bartlett'): Classic Bartlett: skin turns yellow-green from green. Harvest when the neck near the stem gives to light pressure. Ripens off the tree in 4–7 days at room temperature.
One of each tree. On someone's property but you can sneak by and grab one. Pears are the best I've tasted all season. Apples a green and lightly tart, not very edible quite yet.
