Bitter orange · Black locust
🗓 Season: November · December · January · February · May
🔍 When is it ripe?
Bitter orange: Turns fully orange when ripe. Flesh is very sour and seedy — not for fresh eating. Excellent for marmalade, liqueur (Cointreau), and fragrant peel. Harvest when colour is deep orange.
Black locust: Flowers (white, fragrant clusters) are edible in May and can be eaten raw, fried in batter, or made into syrup. The seeds and green pods are toxic — do not eat. Harvest flowers only.
Ανεβαίνοντας μέχρι και την Αγίου Δημητρίου, νεραντζιές μαζί με ψευδοακακίες (Robinia pseudoacacia) και στις δύο πλευρές του δρόμου.
