Serviceberry

📍 440 Phillip St, Waterloo, ON N2L 5R9, Canada
Serviceberry
🗓 Season: June · July
🔍 When is it ripe?
Small, round, turning from red to deep purple-black. Sweet and blueberry-like when fully dark. Birds eat them as soon as they ripen — check daily. Best fresh or in pies and jam.
Two red serviceberry trees by the sidewalk in the parking lot behind Raytheon Canada building. Fruit is ripe and juicy, some of the berries are affected by rust fungus, but most are unaffected.
