🔍 When is it ripe?
Background colour changes from green to yellow or cream (variety determines final colour). Seeds inside should be brown. Flesh yields slightly to thumb pressure. A ripe apple releases with a gentle upward twist — no pulling. Check the ground for natural drops.
At corner of woodland trail and trail entering from Onondaga Hill Park. Currently (11/8/13) there is a picnic table just across trail from the apple tree. Yellow apples, very tasty with somewhat soft flesh. Made an apple crisp.
