American plum

📍 Kings Park, 198 Kings Dr, Winnipeg, MB R3T 3G1, Canada
American plum Public
🗓 Season: August · September
🔍 When is it ripe?
Red to yellow, about 2 cm across. Tart-sweet when ripe; flesh softens and the fruit falls readily. Good raw or cooked. Watch for early drop — often ready by mid-August.
Several American plum trees are interspersed near the parking lot, with many more throughout the park. Fruit quality varies from tree to tree, mostly being quite palatable, although some fruit can be rather large-seeded and mildly astringent.
