🔍 When is it ripe?
Bright red olive-shaped berries. Very sour when first red — wait until they turn deep red and fall freely or can be shaken off. High in vitamin C. Good for jam, wine, and sauce.
Nice big cornelian cherry tree on the berm on the north side of the street halfway down the block. Visited in July and there was both ripe and unripe fruit on the tree. Took a quart to make jelly and there was plenty left.
