Apple (Malus)

📍 Q896+7P Plymouth, NH, USA
Apple (Malus) Public
🗓 Season: August · September · October · November
🔍 When is it ripe?
Background skin colour shifts from green toward yellow; seeds turn brown when ripe. Fruit separates from the spur with a gentle upward twist. Aroma develops near the base. Wild Malus fruit is often small and tart — excellent for cider and jelly.
A meandering old apple tree that was pruned years ago grows on the right (North) side of the entrance to this trail leading into Langdon Woods. I identified it during the winter, so I'm unsure of the quality, size, and yield of the fruit. It did have some old sapsucker holes on it's trunk, meaning that it could possibly now have health issues.
