Blackberry

📍 1888 Sutter Dr, Mt Horeb, WI 53572, USA
Blackberry Public
🗓 Season: July · August · September
🔍 When is it ripe?
Fully black (not red or dark red) and comes off the stem with no resistance — zero pull. Dull rather than shiny; a shiny black berry is still slightly underripe and tart. Eat the same day for best flavour.
Loads of wild blackberries growing on the Hitchcock Ridge Trail in Donald County Park, starting at the very beginning of the trail & continuing throughout most of the loop. Sweet, juicy berries great eaten right off the branch, or made into jam! Beware of the thorns. Foraging for personal use is allowed throughout the parks system.
