🔍 When is it ripe?
Hangs heavily and droops at the neck; skin softens and may split. A sweet drop of nectar at the base eye and the absence of white sap at the stem confirm ripeness. Pick with a gentle twist.
There are abundant and delicious fig bushes on either side of the plantation and at the back shed and necessary house in the garden. The grounds are always open to the public even when the house itself is not open. The docents, Tom and Pam, are very sweet and would be happy if you enjoyed some of the Fort's figs.
