🔍 When is it ripe?
Background colour changes from green to yellow or cream (variety determines final colour). Seeds inside should be brown. Flesh yields slightly to thumb pressure. A ripe apple releases with a gentle upward twist — no pulling. Check the ground for natural drops.
Very tart granny smith apples on the trees between the physics building and the psychology building. Best just before the school year starts! It is technically on Oberlin College property. Students should have no trouble picking, non-students might want to ask around because OC can be aggravatingly touchy sometimes.
