🔍 When is it ripe?
Large, yellow to pale orange. Heavy for its size; skin slightly smooth rather than puffy. Can hang on the tree for months once coloured. Taste is the best test — should be sweet-tart, not bitter.
Grapefruit tree right next to orange tree in front of house. Neighbor is happy to let you pick from his trees.
Grapefruit is not particularly sweet but doesn't taste overly bitter. I like to juice them with my hand juicer any way. Meaty pulp.
