🔍 When is it ripe?
Unlike apples, pears ripen from the inside out. Harvest when the skin colour lightens and the fruit separates with a gentle upward twist. Ripen off the tree at room temperature — leave on a counter until the neck yields to thumb pressure.
Scattered Pear trees still producing fruit on this former farm. Land is now owned by the town and used for walking trails. Easiest pear trees to access are a short distance from the parking lot on Hayden Rowe. They will be off to the north (right) as you walk west from the parking lot and away from the road.
