Black mulberry

📍 6328 Wrightsville Ave, Wilmington, NC 28403, USA
Black mulberry Private but overhanging
🗓 Season: June · July · August
🔍 When is it ripe?
Deep purple-black when ripe; intensely flavoured and juicy. Spread a tarp and shake the tree — ripe fruits fall immediately. Stains everything permanently — wear old clothes. Do not pick unripe red berries (mildly hallucinogenic).
4 or 5 mulberry trees, overhang parking lot, Wrightsville Ave and the townhouse complex behind Atlantic marine. Employees don’t even know they’re there, though I’ve talked to them about picking and taking cuttings. Pretty tall so I could only reach the low branches.
