🔍 When is it ripe?
Small, oval, dark blue-purple. Intensely tart raw — best after first frost or for cooking. Fully ripe when skin darkens completely and fruit gives to pressure. Excellent for jam and gin.
Small purple plums found on the forest side of the trail. Best around mid to late August, a mixture of sweet and tart. Unsure of the varietal but certain they are plums. You do not have to leave the trail to pick them.
