🔍 When is it ripe?
Background skin colour shifts from green to yellow; red blush is variety-dependent and not a reliable indicator. Fruit yields to gentle pressure near the stem end. Fragrant aroma at the base. Harvest when it detaches with a slight twist — no tugging needed.
This free to pick orchard is maintained by volunteers who work with Let It Grow garden center and cafe in Cortez, CO. Most of the trees are peaches but they do have a few pear, plum and cherry trees. Last I heard the apple trees had been stripped. This orchard is typically open July and August, though there is a possibility it could be open earlier and later.
