🔍 When is it ripe?
Background colour changes from green to yellow or cream (variety determines final colour). Seeds inside should be brown. Flesh yields slightly to thumb pressure. A ripe apple releases with a gentle upward twist — no pulling. Check the ground for natural drops.
Apple tree on corner of parking lot for 850 Walnut Bottom Rd. Tree limbs hang over public sidewalk. This is right by the exit ramp of I-81. I never pick the fruit because there is so much to glean that has already fallen.
