🔍 When is it ripe?
Bright red olive-shaped berries. Very sour when first red — wait until they turn deep red and fall freely or can be shaken off. High in vitamin C. Good for jam, wine, and sauce.
Tons of large, very healthy berries, ripe as of the end of July/beginning of August. Made a little jam from them - came out more like applesauce. Very sour, so you have to add sugar.
