🔍 When is it ripe?
Colour fully develops (purple, red, or yellow by variety) and a waxy bloom appears on the skin. Softens slightly at the tip. Taste-test for sweetness — European plums are better slightly soft; Japanese types can be harvested firmer.
Two large italian plum trees are located here. Check with owner first (me), I am happy to share some plums and will probably help you out by getting a ladder, but I harvest these myself so keep your harvest size on the smaller side.
These are tasty raw or have been used to make plum wine.
