🔍 When is it ripe?
Small, orange to yellow fruits in large bunches near the base of fronds. Ripe when fully orange and falls freely. Flavour is apricot and pineapple; very high in pectin — excellent jelly. Short window in summer.
Jelly palm at roadside, ripe with fruit all over the tree at various stages and littering the ground around it. Picked up a grocery bag full and plenty more left over.
This was the first tree in town that appeared ripe but many others down the main stretch.
