🔍 When is it ripe?
Background skin colour shifts from green toward yellow; seeds turn brown when ripe. Fruit separates from the spur with a gentle upward twist. Aroma develops near the base. Wild Malus fruit is often small and tart — excellent for cider and jelly.
A series of apple trees at a pullout on the side of the highway, northbound. Two trees were very full in late Sept 2021. One looks like medium sized Macintosh. The one tree was producing commercial sized apples. Both were very tasty.
