🔍 When is it ripe?
Unlike apples, pears ripen from the inside out. Harvest when the skin colour lightens and the fruit separates with a gentle upward twist. Ripen off the tree at room temperature — leave on a counter until the neck yields to thumb pressure.
There is a pear tree in the front yard of a house somewhere along Broadway...it may be a few blocks east of this marker. The pears are pretty small. Branches overhang the sidewalk and the tree is loaded with fruit.
