Deep purple-black; pulls free from the hollow centre. Strongly flavoured. Picks over about two weeks — check every couple of days.
Right by the corner of the sidewalk before the crosswalk into parking garage. It's near office buildings, so people might start to stare as you pick. Probably best to gather them at night or off business hours.
