🔍 When is it ripe?
Colour fully develops (purple, red, or yellow by variety) and a waxy bloom appears on the skin. Softens slightly at the tip. Taste-test for sweetness — European plums are better slightly soft; Japanese types can be harvested firmer.
Yellow plums, lots of fruit last year. It's behind the fence on the rail slope but overhangs the fence. It probably needs equipment (step stool or stick) to help get the fruit as they are quite high up and when the fall they tend to smoosh!
as of 22/05/13 this tree has been removed by contractors working to clear the area around the railway arches :-(
