🔍 When is it ripe?
Cornelian cherry dogwood: Bright red olive-shaped berries. Very sour when first red — wait until they turn deep red and fall freely or can be shaken off. High in vitamin C. Good for jam, wine, and sauce.
Flowering quince: Hard, yellow-green to yellow fruit resembling a small quince. Inedible raw but highly fragrant and excellent for quince paste or jam. Ripe when fully yellow and aromatic.
