Serviceberry

📍 10 Elliott Way, Croton-On-Hudson, NY 10520, USA
Serviceberry Public
🗓 Season: June · July
🔍 When is it ripe?
Small, round, turning from red to deep purple-black. Sweet and blueberry-like when fully dark. Birds eat them as soon as they ripen — check daily. Best fresh or in pies and jam.
Several serviceberry trees in public park between paved walking path and parking lot. Juniper trees nearby means a lot of Gymnosporangium (rust) infected fruits, but still many good ones. Several more serviceberry trees to the south east along the path.
