🔍 When is it ripe?
Skin turns from green to yellow-orange starting at the base. Yields to gentle pressure. Sweet, floral aroma develops. Green papaya is eaten as a vegetable (unripe). Ripe fruit has orange flesh and black seeds inside.
This tree has a ridiculous number of papayas on it at the time of me making this point, but its deep in someone's back yard. If you are truly desperate for papaya perhaps you could ask the folks here. Otherwise, leave these papayas alone.
