🔍 When is it ripe?
Grey-green skin stays the same colour regardless of ripeness — rely on feel and drop. Ripe when it falls naturally from the tree or gives to gentle squeeze. Interior jelly turns clear from white. Intensely aromatic, pineapple-guava flavour.
Large feijoa tree by footpath. Nice savoury flavour, smaller variety. Absolute cornucopia - can easily fill a bag picking feijoas from ground by fence. Owner was happy for me to pick, though will soon be moving.
