π When is it ripe?
Flowers (white, fragrant clusters) are edible in May and can be eaten raw, fried in batter, or made into syrup. The seeds and green pods are toxic β do not eat. Harvest flowers only.
Many black locust trees with low branches convenient for picking between the trail and the river.
