🔍 When is it ripe?
Pick when background colour shifts from green to yellow-green and the stem separates cleanly. Finish ripening indoors — flesh near the stem should give slightly when pressed.
Pear Tree.
Pear is hard, semi-gritty texture, and very sweet. Green, brown and black speckled russet type skin. Probably "Bartlett" or "Williams" pear. Ripens in late October. The tree is 40+ years old.
It is directly under a power line, so be careful if you use an apple picker with a metallic pole.
This source is on public land because the tree lies entirely inside the right-of-way of the public street + public power line. These pears fall on the sidewalk.
