🔍 When is it ripe?
Green outer husk splits and darkens; nuts fall or shake loose. Remove husks immediately and cure for 2 weeks to develop full flavour. Gloves prevent staining.
Several mature walnut trees in this part of Oak Park. Lots of squirrels, but there are still plenty of walnuts on the ground if you time it right.
