🔍 When is it ripe?
Unlike apples, pears ripen from the inside out. Harvest when the skin colour lightens and the fruit separates with a gentle upward twist. Ripen off the tree at room temperature — leave on a counter until the neck yields to thumb pressure.
Prolific pear tree planted by homeowner at 150 N Prospect (but it's on the boulevard, so fair game.)
Fruit is crisp and slightly sweet.
Homeowner would appreciate it if you leave *some* fruit for her family, but otherwise can't keep up with the fruit, and will usually bring you a grocery bag to collect as much as you'd like.
