🔍 When is it ripe?
Ornamental plum with small red-purple fruit. Tart raw but edible when fully soft and deeply coloured. Usually best cooked into jam or sauce.
Lots of purple-leaf plum trees surrounding this public elementary school. All are in what I believe is considered public space. Esp. since the trees hang over the sidewalk. The Suisine Dr and Farallone Dr sidewalks lining the school collectively have many purple-leaf plum trees, esp. near the parking lots. The fruits rarely get picked by anyone in the neighborhood because many people are unaware that they are edible. :)
