🔍 When is it ripe?
Unlike apples, pears ripen from the inside out. Harvest when the skin colour lightens and the fruit separates with a gentle upward twist. Ripen off the tree at room temperature — leave on a counter until the neck yields to thumb pressure.
Two pear trees are growing on either side of an electrical pole in this business parking lot, next to a private garage door. Easy to access on foot, but may need a ladder to reach upper branches.
