🔍 When is it ripe?
Small apples ripen from green to red, yellow, or orange by variety. Very tart raw but excellent for jelly and cider. Ripe when the colour is fully developed and the fruit lifts off with a gentle twist.
Right of way tree between sidewalk and street. Tree yields copious amounts of 1" diameter yellow to blushing pink crab apples. Good fresh but also used for pickling and preserves. Seems to cycle every other year with large harvests.
