📍 775 Kalmia Ct NW, Issaquah, WA 98027, USA
Apple (Malus)Himalayan blackberry
🗓 Season: August · September · October · November · July
🔍 When is it ripe?
Apple (Malus): Background skin colour shifts from green toward yellow; seeds turn brown when ripe. Fruit separates from the spur with a gentle upward twist. Aroma develops near the base. Wild Malus fruit is often small and tart — excellent for cider and jelly.
Himalayan blackberry: Large, fully black berries. Same cues as common blackberry: comes free easily, no red core, dull rather than shiny. Vigorous canes — protect arms when harvesting.
Abandoned small orchard just up the hill from the parking lot and playground. There are some Himalayan blackberry bushes around so it may be a tad tricky to reach, but there are several unique varieties of apple. The trees are rather tall and old, so not all apples are within immediate reach.
