🔍 When is it ripe?
Fully black (not red or dark red) and comes off the stem with no resistance — zero pull. Dull rather than shiny; a shiny black berry is still slightly underripe and tart. Eat the same day for best flavour.
Blackberries directly to the south of the playgrounds - in weeds along tree line. Picked quite a bit in late April-early May. Wear pants to avoid other thorny weeds (posin ivy is also in weeds). Well worth the juicy harvest! Found many large sweet blackberries.
