Deep red and glossy; stem pulls cleanly. Taste is the best test — sweet and juicy when ripe, still astringent if picked too early.
Blue Ridge Parkway, next to the culvert just southwest of Bandy Rd. If you are tall and not allergic to the poison ivy surrounding the tree, you will be in luck.
